Pears

I am experimenting with pictures and picture sizes. I have resized this picture and I hope for some feedback that it is OK. Thanks, Agneta, if you are checking on it! Posted by Picasa

Size looks good, if that is what you were looking for. I think (but I may be wrong on this) that you are limited to a certain file size when uploading pictures, but you can use the upload feature to pick sizes. I typically keep mine at medium, but I have on occasion made them larger or smaller depending on how important the image is to that particular entry. I view it more as a personal choice, if you want a large picture with text below, the so be it. If you want a small picture just for reference, the same applies.

Oops, I think I mixed my word usage there. I'm thowing the word size around to mean two seperate things. To clarify.........
I believe (again, my be misinformed on this, but) you are limited to a certain file size (size being file size, not image size). You can use the upload feature however to pick the image's physical size (that is to say it's apparent size, image wise, on your blog).

A comment was made under your previous post about the download times for a non broadband connection. The smaller the file size the quicker the image will appear on screen. As per our earlier converstaion, that is one of the nice things about Flickr. You can post there, and just link it from your site which will allow those who have the time and patience to go and view those images that they want and at their leisure without interfearing with their enjoyment of your blog.

Hope that helped clear it up a bit

Cayusa, thanks again for your helpful comments. Yes, Picasa allowed me to pick a sm/med/lg format and I chose med for my first posting of pictures. Then after I received a comment about the time they took to load I changed the pixel size for 'pears' to under 400. It doesn't look any different - just slightly smaller but the point is (as you say) it may load faster for someone without high speed.
This whole blog thing is quite the learning experience, is it not??

Thanks, mamie! The picture appeared quicker this time. Lovely pears :) It's a strange autumn we have this year. It's summer and autumn at the same time. I believe we have the hurricanes to thank for that - shoveling a lot of warm air our way.

Agneta, I'm so glad to hear back from you and to hear that the picture loaded more quickly. If you have read some of the conversation I've been having with Cayusa you will see I've been trying to gain an understanding of this.
Your autumn is sounding much like ours - I was on the golf course today dressed for 4 different seasons and we saw all 4 too!!
